Well for starters, this assignment sure brought back memories for me
Reminds me of what I used to do during one of my poly’s modules. The idea that we need to compress everything that we want to say about “A Day in the University” is close to impossible (at least for me) and so, I need to think about something else instead.
Perhaps it was the sudden realization that I Am going to graduate this semester that everything started to look bleak and all I noticed was the other campus students around myself.
Hey…. We’re all colorful aren’t we?
& hence the concept for my Assignment 2

The first assignment was to modify the MDL website and incorporate CSS & design elements into it. I must admit that I have forgotten much bout the design elements and only when Julian revised them in class then did they all come flooding back.
Problems in the MDL website:
- It’s really messy; not everything was consistent. (in which CSS would be helping a lot)
- Dull-looking? (yes & no)
Challenges WE face:
- THEME THEME THEME (as according to YukYew who was always harping about that issue during the assignment)
We ended up solving the problem by adding a orange and blue background YY did using Illustrator & I changed the arrangement of the layout a bit (from the links below the banner to a drop-down panel at the left side: reason being, the original ones were really small) and we all managed to change the MDL banner.
It really looks much much brighter & more vibrant now!
- How do use CSS (& very much credit went to Yiling whose programming skills gave her insight into CSS & saved the day!)
The team decided to change the fonts to Tahoma and tried to align the words a bit.
- Anxiety bout the deadline & other groups’ performance.
We stayed in the SoC MDL Lab 2 until 10+pm for on Thursday and Friday nights and returned to school on Sunday morning because none of us had access to Dreamweaver at home yet.
One day I must say I was really grateful about was that the links in the original MDL website were working fine, the naming conventions were rater clear and trust me, good naming conventions really Save a lot of time!

I know it’s really really late now but will be posting very regularly for this week (at least) *laughs at own stupidity*…
Let’s see, why did I take NM3208? Well it was supposed to be the second level to NM2208 in which I did terribly but still enjoyed the process. NM3208 is also one of the other few design modules CNM @ NUS is offering (which also makes me feel I Should have enrolled in some really more design-centered school instead
)
But, it has been fun all these times because of the great project mates I do have
& also thanks to Julian for being a really flexible and kind lecturer
